|We won't give up, says Raila from his 'hideout' by Grey (f) : 20 Jul 2023 07:46am|
Azimio Leader Raila Odinga has affirmed that the three-day countrywide protests will continue and that Kenyans will not give up.
On Thursday morning, Raila released a video on his official Twitter account that documented alleged police brutality from Wednesday's countrywide protests.
"The voice of the people must be heard. Our peaceful protests continue," Raila captioned the video.
He had on Wednesday in an interview with Nation said Kenyans will not be cowed from pushing for their rights.
Raila spoke exclusively to the publication from an undisclosed location after failing to show up at the start of demonstrations on Wednesday.
"We will continue with our peaceful demonstrations as planned," the opposition leader said, thanking Kenyans for coming out to protest.
"But we will stop at 5 pm today(Wednesday) and resume tomorrow(Thursday) morning. We will continue to agitate for our rights, as Kenyans we won't give up."
Terming the Wednesday casualties as 'the atrocities of the Ruto regime' the former prime minister vowed to go on with the protests.
The opposition leader called for the three-day marathon demonstrations across the country to push President William Ruto to lower the cost of living.
This is the third wave of protests that have rocked the country as the opposition protests tax hikes contained in the suspended Finance Act, 2023.
